Michelle first began her partnership with Simply Canvas last fall, but it wasn’t until this summer that things really picked up for her in the area of canvas prints.  And she’s had a really busy few months since then!

Michelle does all her work on location, and so has the added difficulty of not being able to display several canvases at once.  And though she features a canvas discount as part of an advertised photo package, it doesn’t help sell the package.  So how has her canvas business taken off?  Like man of her colleagues, Michelle is aware the hands-on, up-close tangible canvas is what sells it.  For in-person ordering she takes her trusty 20”x24” with her.  She encourages her clients to touch the canvas and to scrutinize it up close.  This allows the canvas to truly sell itself.  The downside?  She’s noticing they’re stopping at that size and admits she needs a bigger sample! 

Another interesting and honest assessment that she shares with her clients (and which proves its durability) is that she lets them know she’s been driving around with this same canvas, lugging it in and out of her trunk for a year.  She’s left it in her car in the hot sun.  She hasn’t been real kind to it.  The upside?  It’s still beautiful, still in great shape and only just recently received a small scratch on it.  Michelle tends to push canvas over prints selling them on their obvious assets – no frame is needed, no matting, they arrive ready to hang. 

Michelle is based in Massachusetts.  She is booked through the holidays, after which time she herself hopes to take a holiday.  She is interested in exploring the world of midwives and working together with them, utilizing their offices as mini-galleries to displaying different canvases there.
