Studio of the Month
About a year ago, Suzanne Deaton of Suzanne Deaton Photography was looking for a higher-end product to compliment the type of prints she offered her clients. With Simply Canvas, she found both great products and a great vendor to work with.
Suzanne found Simply Canvas when she attended the Kentucky Professional Photographers Association Tradeshow in 2008. At the time, Suzanne was using a different company to produce her prints, however the ordering process was inconvenient and the options were limited. “Seeing Simply Canvas at KPPA opened up a world of options, especially the custom borders. This is what we were looking for to make our collections stand out in our community and take our business to the next level.”
Since September of 2008, Suzanne’s sales have skyrocketed and she has become one of our highest volume customers. Her secret? Selling multiple images rather than a single print. “I tell my clients about the canvas collages and the sizes and options available. I offer them multiples images on one big wall and stress how this makes the canvases look like art. And I want to sell art to my community.” Suzanne also displays these in her studio. “Clients purchase what you show them and we like to show the images big and more than one at a time.” She even has canvas collections hanging on the walls of her shooting area.
A couple more of her marketing techniques include pushing canvas collections in her welcome packet and her “Watch Me Grow” program. “In my welcome packet is one piece that is a price printed card with detailed information and images of the collections…so I can pre-sell a cluster wall.” The “Watch Me Grow” program is where clients can purchase three canvases at a time from newborn, six and twelve month sessions to end up with nine. If these clients pre-pay for a set of nine at the newborn session, Suzanne throws in a complimentary 10x20 canvas at the end of the year. “We try to create incentives for them to purchase more than one and it usually pays off.”
Suzanne has also taken advantage of our New Simply Canvas Clusters. Before we introduced these, she was selling a few clusters of 15x30’s with a 30x30 in the middle. But according to Suzanne, with the addition of Simply Canvas Clusters, we’ve inspired a “whole other realm of possibilities.” Suzanne, we’re happy to help and thanks for sharing your secrets behind the success of your canvas collections!
Congratulations on being our August Studio of the Month!
