Visualizations Photography

Aaron and Joanna Patterson of Visualizations, located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, heard about Simply Canvas from Joanna’s father several years ago, who mentioned he knew of a company who was going to offer canvas prints. Their initial reaction? “Canvas? Big deal. It’s been around for a long time.” It wasn’t until they came into contact with Drew Smith, a member of our printing department, who convinced them to give us a try. “Oh my gosh, other prints don’t even compare. The finishing work is thicker, more beautiful. They look like a painting,” said Joanna. Not only have they taken a liking to them, their clients have too.

Visualizations has developed several effective ways to market canvas prints. First, they display them throughout their studio space, in areas where their clients can’t miss them. “When you walk into our lobby, we have one huge wall filled. We also hang them in our presentation rooms where our clients review their orders,” said Joanna. Displaying them in these prime locations gives their clients the opportunity to notice them right away, a simple marketing tactic. Since making them visually available to their clients, their canvas sales have increased. Clients see them and they WANT them.

Aaron and Joanna also encourage their customers to purchase their images on canvas, especially if their clients are looking to display the picture hanging on a wall. “We want to know what the final outcome will be, if their image is for a wall, we automatically suggest a canvas,” Joanna replied. They also stress that canvas is considered a one-of-a-kind piece of art and that type of medium compliments their images. They also suggest unique sizes, not limiting the images to standard sizes but to custom sizes, another element that further compliments the image. “If you’re going to pay that much money for a piece of art, we don’t want to stay in those traditional sizes.”

Finally, Visualizations personalizes their canvases and prints to meet their clients’ needs. “The edges of the canvases are decorative, not solid depending on what the client would like. Aaron personally handles the design of the wraps. This way they stand out,” Joanna explained. Customizing their clients’ images gives them a unique piece of art that reflects their personal style. “We create unique images, customized for the clients.”

These personal artistic touches go a long way with their customers. Priding themselves on their passion in creating memories that last, exceptional and unique image quality and customer experience, Visualizations receives most of their business by word of mouth. They’ve also capitalized on the social networking craze: Blogging, Facebook and Twitter. “Aaron twitters, we’re running three blogs now and we’re on facebook. Plus, we just did a website re-design,” she said.

When it comes to marketing their business and product offerings, Visualizations is on the right track. According to Joanna, their marketing campaigns have proven to be effective, especially when it comes to canvases. She went on to explain that her and Aaron have been surprised by the amount of canvases they are selling and the choice they made to offer them has definitely been an upgrade. We’re guessing they’d like to retract their initial statement of “Canvas? Big Deal."
